In the previous joint work with (Assanbayeva & Kadyrov, 2020) factor analysis resulted 9 scales, namely, teacher impact, occupation salary impact, external impact, personal interest impact, personal skills impact, national test impact, university cost impact, parents impact, state grant impact. The main aim of the present work is to investigate main factors that influenced the Kazakhstani students most. The next goal is to find any differences in terms of gender when it comes to major selection factors. As most participants were among Suleyman Demirel University,we also wanted to see if there any differences between factors that influence Suleyman Demirel University students major selection to students of other local universities. The statistical data analysis show that students found themselves to be the most influential by 6 factors out of 9 ,namely, influence of state grant, influence of university cost, occupation salary impact, national test impact, influence of personal interest and influence of personal skills.Findings also suggested that, there is no difference between these 6 factors depending on gender. Also,no differences were found among university and factors.Item Open Access EFL Teacher’s Perception On Using Self-Regulated Learning Strategies by Senior Grade Students(2020 International Young Scholars, 2020) Zhetkergenova Zh.E.Abstract .Shift to autonomous learning changed roles of class actors in EFL classes. Students have learning responsibilities on their own, whereas teachers’ role is considered to be as a consulter. Thus, students need to identify their own learning goals and regulate learning process themselves. All these and other strategies are included to the self-regulation strategies. Zimmerman (1990) found out 14 SRL strategies which influence on academic achievement. However, teachers also need to promote these strategies during and out of classes and encourage EFL learners to use them in different contexts. The qualitative research investigates to what extent EFL teachers of senior grade students encourage their learners to use SRL strategies. In results, the study presents teachers’ more preferable SRL strategies for senior students to achieve academic achievementItem Open Access Analyzing the method game-based learning(2020 International Young Scholars, 2020) Kairat N.Abstract. This article discusses the benefits of using game-based learning. The purpose of the article: to provide a method that would make it easier for students to understand and accept the new topics at school and to remember the learned materials for a long time. Increasing the interest and activity of schoolchildren is an important part of the learning process. Motivating students is one of the biggest challenges for teachers. It is quite possible that the use of traditional teaching methods alone will cause indifference in students. Therefore, it is better to use active learning methods so that the lesson is not boring. In this regard, the use of game-based learning technology can increase the motivation of students to learn. Based on the research materials, it can be concluded that the game-based learning method facilitates students' learning and motivates students, allows them to work with classmates, i.e. increases the ability to work in groups, helps to overcome indifference to mathematics, creates a fun learning environment.Item Open Access Word problems in the school mathematics course(2020 International Young Scholars, 2020) Kudaibergen A.A.Abstract Mathematical education is part of the system of continuing education and is of great importance in ensuring the development of human intellectual abilities in modern society. In the secondary education system, teaching mathematics takes a special place in the development of cognitive abilities and logical thinking of students. The main goal of our study is to develop methodological foundations for teaching word problems in the process of teaching mathematics in secondary school and to test its effectiveness experimentally. There are various methods for solving word problems: arithmetic method, algebraic method, geometric method, logical method, practical method, and tabular method. Different mathematical models are created based on each method. In the course of secondary school mathematics, two methods of solving word problems are considered: arithmetic and algebraic. The main purpose of the conducted pedagogical experiment was to test the effectiveness of the method that allows to increase the level of mathematical training of secondary school students, based on the use of the algebraic method in solving word problems of secondary school students. Prospects for research on the development of teaching methods for solving word problems are associated with a deep consideration of professional, creative and personal aspects of students.Item Open Access PROJECT-BASED LEARNING AS AN APPROACH TO DEVELOP CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS: A LITERATURE REVIEW(2020 International Young Scholars, 2020) Junisbayeva S.Abstract Project-Based Learning is a learner-centered approach, which is known as one of the ways that facilitates the development of professional competencies and promotes learners’ critical thinking skills. This paper provides a selective review of the literature and the analysis of the studies on Project-Based Learning (PBL) in the field of foreign language education and critical thinking skills including the main concepts, key components and a learning process within PBL. PBL has a strong theoretical support from the foreign literature, and most of the researchers understood and implemented it as an approach to foster critical thinking skills in the reviewed studies; however, not all of them complied with its essential elements proposed as “Gold Standard of PBL”. Particularly, the analysis of the selected studies in PBL sphere revealed that most of the researchers did not take into consideration the requirements of the last and main stage of the PBL as “Public product”, that demands the projects to be presented in front of the alternative audience. Even though, the final products were designed within these projects, they were not performed out of the classroom, which in its turn is opposite to the policy of rigorous “ProjectBased Learning”.Item Open Access New methods of teaching law problems & perspectives(2020 International Young Scholars Workshop, 2020) Niteesh K.U.Abtract. To do so, different articles, starting all the way from the years of 2000 will be used, due to the limited amount of information available in this related topic. Item Open Access Monetary Policy and the Real Economy: A Structural VAR Approach for Kazakhstan(2020 International Young Scholars, 2020) Zinauova N.; Tautanova Z.; Saydaliev H.B.Abstract This paper shows monetary policy indicator which better explains Kazakhstani transmission mechanism. The study also discusses how foreign monetary policy or oil prices affect domestic macroeconomic variables. They are: interest rate, exchange rate, output, reserve money, consumer price index, then, World oil price index and Federal Funds rate.Item Open Access The Automation of Course Scheduling in Higher Education Institutions: Mathematical methods and software products(2020 International Young Scholars Workshop, 2020) Aitchanov B.; Baimuratov O.; Rustauletov B.Abstract. The formation and management of schedules is repetitive and troublesome for any class, university and organization. Limited resources in terms of people, time and locations. Institutions needs solutions that will meet all of these constraints of scheduling. That system for scheduling should take in control the scheduling process which takes time by automatically allocating time slots for teaching and creating course schedule. And easily can be integrated with their systems without need to do some extra work like adding data for scheduling or exporting them, reducing the time spend on creating schedules and minimizing errors that made by people. Today, there are various types of systems and services designed to create schedules, reserve classrooms, assign classrooms for course teachers at specific times. The use of modern technologies, methods and models makes it easy to use open applications and services, as well as services at the local level. This paper presents the results of the analysis of systems. Their structures, algorithms, models, and also functional capabilities. The aim of this work is to determine the types of applications and systems, analysis of various options for the implementation of algorithms for the formation of schedules in educational institutions.Item Open Access The Effects of heuristic teaching methods in mathematics(2020 International Young Scholars, 2020) Nokhatbayeva K.Abstract. Article discusses the problem of heuristic teaching method of mathematics started from 19th centuries. Here was substantiated the thesis that the heuristic method of teaching is one of the most important methods of teaching mathematics. The works of scientists from different countries were studied. Based on the analysis of S.M. Jubran and other researchers, the level of necessity of this training method is established. This article attempts to reveal the system of pedagogical skills of a teacher in heuristic teaching of mathematics. Here was shown pedagogical skills which are necessary for organizing and managing students' heuristic activities and fully describe the stages of the educational process (by O.A. Bulvinskaya). In order to determine the conception of heuristic teaching method among teachers of Kazakhstan there was made a Likert scale questionnaire of 13 items. These 13 items were taken from 13 heuristics, that were identified by the Curriculum Planning and Developing Division (CPDD) within the Ministry of Education Singapore (MOE).Item Open Access Applying machine learning models for predicting forest fires in Australia and the influence of weather on the spread of fires based on satellite and weather forecast data(2020 International Young Scholars Workshop, 2020) Meraliyev B.; Kongratbayev K.Abstract What shall we expect from the year 2020? The coronavirus pandemic is not the worst thing that humanity can face in the near future. According to the observations of the scientists, in March, 2020, the planet temperature warmed up to the record-high level. Also, the temperature of the world’s oceans exceeded its average temperatures by 80%, and prognosis of the meteorological observations is not good. The warming seas had already led to catastrophic disaster. The average temperature increase can also lead to hurricanes, drought, invasion of locusts and, the worst, to forest fires. Natural disasters lead to loss of life, destruction of properties and infrastructure, loss of animal natural habitats, displacement of humans. And the results of these all lead to humanitarian catastrophes, including social and economic. The situations related to the nature are always very serious, as the whole world is involved. This is like butterfly effect, i.e., the natural disaster in Australia affect the economic and ecologic situation in USA and England. Taking the Australia, they faced problem that cannot be avoided. Nevertheless, the world can be prepared and prevent from the huge disasters. The forecasting of forest fires can really be helpful, as well as the inquiry of the weather impact on fires. The current paper is focused on the study of fire forecasting and weather influence on fire. The relevance of the study is important, as the global warming and human caused fires are increasing and there is a trend that Australia’s fires became more dangerous and longer lasting. The artificial intelligence, particularly machine learning algorithms, can help to make appropriate calculations and predictions to safe the ecosystem and human lives. According to the preliminary research results we acquire; in-depth multidimensional analysis confirms almost 100 percent dependence of bushfires on the weather conditions. Using the machine learning algorithms, it would be possible to predict the time and positioning of inflammation source.Item Open Access Competitive Landscape Shift: When does a competitor matter?(2020 International Young Scholars, 2020) Kamzabek T.Abstract This research broadens the Strategic Entrepreneurship construct. This research aims to clarify the relationship between strategic and entrepreneurial activities with competitive landscape changes by questioning is the firm limited to the current boundary of competition? By integrating the competitive dynamics and multimarket competition theory, the study finds the correlative relationship between Strategic Entrepreneurship activities with competitive landscape shifts. The study found that explorative activities do not have any commonalities with traditional competitors. Also, the high involvement competitive tension with rival causes the firm to go beyond its current landscape, which enables the incumbent firm to increase the market commonality with new competitors and traditional competitors. The research also looking for the anomalies that emerged within the process of it and give several explanations for that. By analyzing the M&A history (between 1995 - 2019) of big players in the consumer goods industry which has a similar core (Procter & Gamble and Unilever) I found the support to the hypothesis.Item Open Access Development of metacognitive skill in teaching mathematics(2020 International Young Scholars Workshop, 2020) Yernazar A.Abstract. The study of metacognitive processes in the context of training and education is currently undoubtedly a priority in metacognitive psychology as a whole. The importance of this group of studies is due in many respects to the large representation of the class of processes in question in educational activities. At the same time, work in this area is not limited to a sample of primary school children, as this has been a significant amount of time. In recent years, the inclusion of the category of metacognition in education affects the educational activities of senior students, graduate students, and generally people involved in continuing education. The study described in this article aims at investigating the relation between the development of metacognition skills and success in learning algebraic identity formulas among middle school students. It uses a quantitative approach. Participants are about 50 students of 7th grade from Oral Bilim Innovation Liceum in Kazakhstan and are divided into two groups, namely experimental and control group. The data is collected by taking a pre-test and post-test from both classes. The diagnostic test is constructed by the researcher and confirmed by university professors. During the research students in the experimental group are familiarized with the concept of metacognition and its strategies such as thinking aloud, self-questioning, reflection and active learning strategies by applying them to solve problems with identity formulas. Finally, the data will be analyzed with ttest and much deeper conclusion will be drawn about the development of metacognitive strategies among students in teaching mathematics.Item Open Access Organization of extracurricular work in mathematics(2020 International Young Scholars Workshop, 2020) Yessirkeppova A.; Yessenbolkyzy A.Abstract.The article explains the technology for organizing extracurricular activities with students in mathematics and the methodology for their implementation, the general characteristics and benefits of different types of extracurricular activities in developing skills in students.
