    The aim of the article is to describe the role of reading in improving the EFL (English as a Foreign Language) learners’ writing skills. The attempt is made to analyze the relationship between writing and reading in the process of learning a foreign language and particularly to highlight the importance of reading in the development of writing skills. The article suggests a systematic review of the scientific literature related to incorporating reading into the process of writing skills development. Additionally, the paper identifies strengths and weaknesses of this approach that should be taken into consideration y teachers in their writing classrooms.

    THE IMPORTANCE OF WRITING SKILLS FOR EFL LEARNERS: COMMON ERRORS AND WAYS OF IMPROVING

    Abstract.In order to attain specific language mastery, it is required to obtain four major skills of language such as writing, reading, listening, and speaking. One of the most complicated and highly required skills among all these four skills is writing, and since it is considered to be difficult, it is impossible to acquire this skill in a natural way for EFL (English as a foreign language) learners. Moreover, it is mostly accepted as the skill that has many complexities thus playing a determining role in linguistic output. For example, EFL learners frequently face difficulties in writing connected with such language components as vocabulary, grammatical structure, coherence and cohesion, spelling and punctuation. The following article aims to emphasize the significance of writing in learning a foreign language. It also attempts to highlight some common errors in students’ writings and to suggest extensive reading as an essential solution and effective way of developing writing skills.

    Abstract. Developing writing skills may be challenging for the majority of students while learning English. They easily get bored of typical writing structures and often neglect such tasks. In order to engage students in the writing process and boost their interest, teachers always try to search for new modern teaching tools. One of the contemporary instruments to develop English as a foreign language (EFL) learners’ writing skills might be using social media. The current article attempts to conduct an overview of the studies devoted to the investigation of Instagram as a tool to practice writing as well as to facilitate the development of writing skills.

    This study may have an impact on social change by helping university EFL teachers expand the written work aptitudes of their students. Significantly more , college educators need to know whether certain written work abilities can be improved by using WhatsApp. This research is a quasi experimental and qualitative research. The purpose of this research is to investigate the effect of using WhatsApp on improv ing the students' performance in English writing in Language School at Suleyman Demirel University. To accomplish this objective , and in an attempt to answer the research questions presented in the first part of this work, the researcher collected data th rough analyzing an English proficiency writing test which was classified into three domains each of which dealt with sub writing skills (mechanics of writing , usage and sentence formation).The procedures contained design and statistical analysis.
