Item Open Access THE WAYS TO IMPROVE INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY SKILLS OF EFL TEACHERS(СДУ хабаршысы - 2021, 2021) S. Kazybay; D. GaipovAbstract. ICT plays an important role in the maintenance of Education. In the XXI century, ICT has become a central issue for educators to integrate into the curriculum, thus leading to high performance of learners in the classroom. This study focuses on EFL teachers in secondary schools with different years of experience. This paper analyzes challenges/problems teachers face while using ICT, the level of ICT usage among the secondary school English Language Teachers and teachers’ perceptions towards integrating ICT in an English classroom. The application of technology can progress interest and inspiration of learners. Innovation offers second language learners information, outcomes and feedback; it also offers teachers efficient way of coordinating course contents and to communicate with many learners. Nevertheless, the usage of technology is encouraged and instructors can alter their teaching practices and instructional approaches, so that, available tools are utilized in the most efficient manner. It is recommended that caution to be taken when using technology to support language education.Item Open Access THE IMPACT OF PROJECT-BASED LEARNING ON STUDENTS’ MOTIVATION IN FOREIGN LANGUAGE LEARNING: A COMPREHENSIVE LITERATURE REVIEW(SDU University, 2025) Laura Lyadova; Kulakhmetova MergulThis literature review explores the level of motivation when introducing Project-Based Learning (PBL) in the mainstream classes of the foreign language. A particular attention is given to its application in language education, highlighting benefits and possible challenges. This review synthesizes findings from various research studies that highlight the benefits of PBL, including increased engagement, deeper conceptual understanding, and faster language retention. Despite the fact that PBL stimulates students to acquire a foreign language, there are some challenges, such as the need for additional guidance, lack of teacher training and assessment techniques. Although the review highlights the exceeding advantages of PBL over traditional teaching methods, it also emphasizes the positive application of balanced approach for improving academic excellence of students. Moreover, the literature review takes into considerations the essence of cultural factor and suggest longitudinal application of PBL for identification of long-term effects on students’ motivation to learn a foreign language. The review provides a foundation for further empirical research on integrating PBL into educational curricula and offer essential insights into its best practices in foreign language classrooms. This article describes the goals of the methodological training of future mathematics teachers at a pedagogical university (scientific and methodological knowledge, scientific and methodological and organizational and methodological skills), the structural components of their methodological training (methodological special courses, final qualification and coursework, pedagogical and educational practice). Determination of the essential characteristics of the readiness of mathematics teachers to organize the project activities of students made it possible to outline the ways of developing the necessary professional qualities in order to prepare the future specialist for a rational, creative solution of didactic problems of teaching mathematics using the project method. First, we give definition to both methods and then compare them with each other. At the end we tried to find a way to keep balance between these methods in teaching process and take only advantages of the methods.Item Open Access Development of metacognitive skill in teaching mathematics(2020 International Young Scholars Workshop, 2020) Yernazar A.Abstract. The study of metacognitive processes in the context of training and education is currently undoubtedly a priority in metacognitive psychology as a whole. The importance of this group of studies is due in many respects to the large representation of the class of processes in question in educational activities. At the same time, work in this area is not limited to a sample of primary school children, as this has been a significant amount of time. In recent years, the inclusion of the category of metacognition in education affects the educational activities of senior students, graduate students, and generally people involved in continuing education. The study described in this article aims at investigating the relation between the development of metacognition skills and success in learning algebraic identity formulas among middle school students. It uses a quantitative approach. Participants are about 50 students of 7th grade from Oral Bilim Innovation Liceum in Kazakhstan and are divided into two groups, namely experimental and control group. The data is collected by taking a pre-test and post-test from both classes. The diagnostic test is constructed by the researcher and confirmed by university professors. During the research students in the experimental group are familiarized with the concept of metacognition and its strategies such as thinking aloud, self-questioning, reflection and active learning strategies by applying them to solve problems with identity formulas. Finally, the data will be analyzed with ttest and much deeper conclusion will be drawn about the development of metacognitive strategies among students in teaching mathematics.Item Open Access SENTIMENT ANALYSIS OF UNIVERSITY FEEDBACK OPINION OF STUDENTS ABOUT AN EDUCATIONAL PART IN KAZAKH LANGUAGE USING MULTIBINOMIAL NAIVE BAYES CLASSIFIER(СДУ хабаршысы - 2019, 2019) A. Serek; M. ZhaparovAbstract. In this paper, the system which identifies the sentiment, (aka meaning) of a kazakh phrase, (whether it is a positive, or a negative) have been implemented using MultiBinomial Naive Bayes Classifier and achieved accuracy approximately 71 % on the dataset about university feedback across students on its educational component in order to help administrative staff to evaluate the current state of education in the university and make some decisions on its basis. We consider it to be a good result, given that the data was small in size, so that there were only few collected samples. The importance of the work that we did not find any paper which performed sentiment analysis using MultiBinomial Naive Bayes classifier on an agglutinative language. It can be argued, that the model can be successfully generalized in other educational organizations pursuing the same cause as it was identified in the above-mentioned rationale. The limitation of the paper is that only one algorithm has been applied to it, and the dataset size is small.Item Open Access L1 LITERACY IN KAZAKHSTAN AND ITS EFFECT ON L2 ENGLISH ACADEMIC LITERACY(Global Trends and Values in Education, 2020) Dimitriou K.; Omurzakova D.; Narymbetova K.As foreign language universities are becoming ever-more common, the issue of secondlanguage tertiary literacy has come to the forefront. The linguistic demands of such universities on new students are very challenging. Though freshmen can pass international language exams in English, the literacy skills that are most important to tertiary success are those developed in their first language. However, it is becoming more widely known that most Central Asian post-Soviet education systems do little to develop such literacy. It would be of great interest to understand the experiences of students who were going through this difficult tertiary literacy process. Our exploratory ethnographic study investigated students’ linguistic and schooling backgrounds, their development of writing skills, and their literacy metalanguage, to try and ascertain the effect of their first-language literacy on their progress. Therefore, we investigated a Foundation level English-language writing class, the experiences of its teacher, and six of its students, in a Kazakhstan university. Our findings show that literacy practices in the high schools of Central Asia seem to be deficient both in the quality of literacy teaching and in the culture of literacy, namely critical thinking and metacognition. These have had demonstrable effects on students’ literacy acquisition.Item Open Access MENTORING: OVERVIEW AND CHALLENGES(СДУ хабаршысы - 2021, 2021) A. Pashanova; D. GaipovAbstract. The present scientific article highlights various views and definitions regarding mentoring programs and a mentor-mentee relationship in the context of international and local. A great amount of studies are dedicated to generalize the theories of mentoring, however, some experiments on mentoring exposed its uniqueness to each person, place, time, and situation. This article briefly investigates different views on mentorship and identifies challenges that come with it. To sum up. this article will be helpful to raise awareness about this topic and challenge for further investigation.
