dc.description.abstractThis study focuses on the issues related to covering finance related topics in Kazakhstan on the example the devaluation of the national currencytenge, that took place in February, 2014. It analyzes the articles written by three leading Kazakhstani information agencies (Zakon.kz, TengriNews.kz, BNews.kz) by applying qualitative method of Critical discourse analysis (CDA), the interdisciplinary method developed by Teun A. van Dijk that allows undertake analysis of the textual components, linguistic units, while taking into account the context of the discourse event in which text is created. In combination with framing theory the study attempts to present the overall tone of the coverage of this social and economic important event by leading news media in Kazakhstan.
