Now, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has been used in almost all fields of life, including in education. In education, computer technology has become so essential that the government put ICT as one of the curriculum in Kazakstani education. The computers play significant role in the learning process especially in learning language.Item Open Access THE IMPORTANCE OF WRITING SKILLS FOR EFL LEARNERS: COMMON ERRORS AND WAYS OF IMPROVING(СДУ хабаршысы - 2022, 2022) E. Kozhakhmet; S. TulepovaAbstract.In order to attain specific language mastery, it is required to obtain four major skills of language such as writing, reading, listening, and speaking. One of the most complicated and highly required skills among all these four skills is writing, and since it is considered to be difficult, it is impossible to acquire this skill in a natural way for EFL (English as a foreign language) learners. Moreover, it is mostly accepted as the skill that has many complexities thus playing a determining role in linguistic output. For example, EFL learners frequently face difficulties in writing connected with such language components as vocabulary, grammatical structure, coherence and cohesion, spelling and punctuation. The following article aims to emphasize the significance of writing in learning a foreign language. It also attempts to highlight some common errors in students’ writings and to suggest extensive reading as an essential solution and effective way of developing writing skills.Item Open Access FLIPPING THE EFL CLASSROOM(СДУ хабаршысы - 2020, 2020) K. Abdulkhakimova , K. NarymbetovaAbstract. The study explores EFL flipped classroom in a higher education setting. The results obtained in observations and questionnaires showed that the flipped classroom improved students’ engagement in learning process and the teaching model was perceived positively by students. The study also identifies a number of drawbacks that need to be taken into consideration by teachers who are planning to use this instructional method in their classrooms.Item Open Access CHALLENGES OF TEACHING ENGLISH PRONUNCIATION FOR KAZAKH AND RUSSIAN EFL STUDENTS(Suleyman Demirel University, 2014) Aiganatova A.English has been a lingua franca in various domains of communication such as international business, academic conferences, diplomacy, science and technology. As a result, the demands for English skills in all aspects are crucial in response to the importance of English and the impact of globalization. Given the role of English as an international language which is used in almost domain of communication, among several factors hindering the success of English language learning. English pronunciation of the Kazakh and Russian learners should be focused. This study has principle objective: to determine possible factors affecting the Kazakh and Russian learners’ pronunciation competence. To achieve these objectives, 40 Kazakh and Russian learners of English participated in this study. The test consisting of two parts: personal information profile, and 20 selected words systematically taken from textbooks and dictionaries, was employed to identify these participants’ pronunciation competence. The results showed that most of the participants’ English pronunciation was somewhat limited. Gender was identified to be the most significant factor contributing to the participants’ test scores, while faculty and years of studying English were not. In light of the results suggested by the three variables, pedagogical suggestions were offered to help improve teaching and learning English pronunciation in general, and in focusing on the importance of teaching word stress in particular.
