Item Open Access Development of an Exam application using Adaptive Learning algorithms(2013) Syzdykov R.Web-based exams are becoming increasingly popular in the last years; however, most of the exams developed using static exam content, so that students access to the same content irrespective of different learning backgrounds, learning styles, knowledge levels and abilities. It's a challenge to develop advanced Web-based exam application that can offer both adaptivity and intelligence. This study presents a novel approach to design an exam application which includes major adaptive features. The student, domain and exam content are separately designed to support adaptive learning. Application tracks students’ answers during the exam phase. The results are analyzed according to the Item Response Theory (IRT) in order to calculate students’ abilities. The student model is updated based on exam results. The updated student model is used to generate learning style and knowledge level of each learner.Item Open Access Research models and methods for science strategic planning(Faculty of Engineering and Natural Science, 2024) Abdrakhym A.The purpose of this thesis is research models and methods for strategic science planning, to develop a website to showcase potential partners from 520 international universities around the world, which further facilitates collaboration. I hope to contribute to the development of strategic planning in the field of science in Kazakhstan by establishing links between scientists and promoting international cooperation. Using methods of analysis and data collection from various sources, the study established links between Kazakhstan’s scientists and the international scientific community. Using network analysis and statistical methods, the most positive areas of research in Kazakhstan and areas of international cooperation have been identified.Item Open Access Creation of effective chatbots based on neural networks(Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, 2023) Yermek D.This paper presents a comprehensive exploration of the development process for a neural network-based chatbot. Given the increasing popularity of neural networks and chatbots in recent years, investigating the creation process of such a chatbot is both pertinent and valuable. The primary objective of this study is twofold: first, to construct an effective chatbot, and second, to identify the most precise model for text classification. Furthermore, the paper delves into the mathematical aspects of creating a chatbot and provides a detailed explanation of neural networks. The initial step in our project involved the creation of a database containing a sufficient number of student questions, which were then categorized into ten distinct categories. ‘To achieve this, we carefully selected the ten most commonly asked questions and generated multiple paraphrased versions of each question. These variations were employed for training and evaluating our models. During the course of our research, we identified three text classification models that proved to be the most suitable for our purposes: Multinomial Logistic Reeression, Naive Bayes, and Neural Network. We conducted extensive tests using these models and documented the results in a table, providing a comprehensive analysis of their performance. Following the successful completion of the database collection and the identification of the optimal text classification model, we proceeded to create the chatbot using DialogF low. Additionally, we integrated our chatbot into the Telegram messenger for wider accessibility and user convenience.Item Open Access Study of the transformation of Kazakh language speech into text data(Faculty of Engineering and Natural Science, 2024) Kursabayeva A.The transformation of speech into text data is a key component in the development of modern language technologies and artificial intelligence. Despite significant advances in this field, support for languages with unique grammatical and phonetic characteristics, such as Kazakh, remains a challenge. The purpose of this study is to analyze the existing method of converting speech in the Kazakh language into text and evaluate their effectiveness. The research methodology includes the analysis of the VOSK model for speech transformation in the Kazakh language. An experimental study is being conducted based on the KazakhTTS dataset using machine learning and natural language processing methods. The results of the experiment, presented as an indicator of the error rate in the word (WER), showed that VOSK big and VOSK small have almost the same indicators (51% and 53% respectively). It was also noted that there are limitations in recognizing word endings and that some errors occur during speech recognition. The discussion of the results highlights the potential of the model and points to the need for further improvement and training in working with more diverse data. In conclusion, the key conclusions are outlined, as well as potential directions for further research in the field of Kazakh speech recognition.Item Open Access Profession inclination identification using machine learning(Suleyman Demirel University, 2021) Talasbek A.L.General characteristics of research. Relevance. Currently, the Kazakhstan market has virtually no systems for profession inclination identification. Modern society makes new demands on performance and professionalism. However, high levels of professionalism suggest a full disclosure of the potential of the individual, which is impossible without taking into account the personal characteristics of an individual. Задача состояла в разработке приложения, с помощью которого можно было бы добавить в учебный процесс, интерактивность, используя новые технологии. Созданное приложение для планшетных компьютеров ТЕА является одним из тех приложении, которое может помочь преподавателям заинтересовать учеников и сделать урок еще более интерактивным. Ученики же в свою очередь смогут научиться пользоваться новыми технологиями с пользой для себя, а не только как средство для развлечений.Item Open Access Automating real estate investment analysis in Kazakhstan(2023) Nametbayeva A.In the modern world, data plays the most important role not only for the development of medium and small businesses and the formation of large economies, but also for the comfortable everyday life of every person. This study examines the Kazakh residential real estate market in the city of Almaty to apply machine learning algorithms to real estate data for price prediction. We know that this market is an important sector of the global economy. The residential real estate market in Kazakhstan is a complex structure, consisting of hundreds of thousands of apartments, characterized by many features. At the same time, any changes in the market may cause speculation and a deliberate increase in real estate prices. That is why it is so important to understand what the real cost of an apartment is and where it is more expensive. The research focused on building a real estate value prediction model using machine learning methods such as linear regression, XGBoost, Random Forest, and Prophet. The data was taken from the krisha.kz website for the following dates: November 30, 2020, May 9, 2021 and November 2, 2022. The number of processed data for each of these dates was 6807, 3426 and 32424 records, respectively. Among the tested models, XGBoost and Random Forest showed the best results.Item Open Access Numerical estimation of hausdorff dimension of self-similar sets and open set condition(Faculty of Engineering and Natural sciences, 2019) Keulimzhayev A.This work is based on two of my scientific articles [10],[7]. When writing this work, I singled out the thesis into two sections. In the first section, I perform computer calculations, in the second section, I confirmed the theorem. That is, in the first part of the "Sierpinski triangle and the open set condition" I study the size of the triangle (Sierpinski triangle) in the fractal system, composed by Vaclav Sierpinski, in different conditions. These studies are conducted by two different methods of computer computing. Comparing the results obtained, I conclude on two methods for calculating the size and triangle of the Serpin in the amount of 729 pieces that we consider. That is, I will define both methods as effective and flawed, as well as some uncertainty of the methods and reasons for this in the form of a table. In the second section, working together with the supervisor, I study a closed Cantor set with parameter A and consider that these fractal sets are completely identical to themselves. In particular, I consider the fractal system Ey constituting specific lines, the iterative functional system fi(z) = 2/3, fa(z) = (2 +A)/3 and fo(x) = (x + 2)/3 consisting of three functions. That is when passing 1 < A <2as\=1+3°" for an integer n, I determine and prove that the fractal set F) is self-similar.Item Open Access Using LEGO MINDSTORMS in school education(Faculty of Engineering and Natural Science, 2013) Kenzhekey Zh.K.Nowadays problem of teaching is the question how to engage students in the process of learning new material with an enthusiasm. Reason to this may be different factors such as students’ disinterest or, in most cases, laziness or passiveness. Schools may keep on teaching the same material taken from library year by year, but at some moment, this material will not be the only way to make people study it. When we are used to something for a long time, we will probably get tired of it. Moreover, this is key point of this problem; students need interesting methods of teaching. In this work, I present my vision of teaching physics by using LEGO MINDSTORMS. Students have difficulty learning for learning’s sake, especially in physics classrooms. When they have an applied, real world challenge such as an engineering problem to solve or a novel science investigation .to perform, students thrive, exhibiting a great deal of enthusiasm and ownership. Allowing them to solve problems without concrete answer on an answer sheet, students learn to turn on their confidence, teamwork and problem-solving skills. Well-designed activities using robotics give students rich opportunities to write about their ideas: utilize mathematical tools and represent their findings via mathematical models. Using 3D artifacts, robotics, other construction leads students to active work. Additionally, many students are familiar with LEGO, their modular design allows for multiple solutions to a given assignment, and the sensors and motors that are compatible with LEGO MINDSTORMS allows high school physics students to engage in a very diverse set of engineering and science activities. Using LEGO MINDSTORMS robotics activities to teach physics concepts creates an effective learning environment for conceptual knowledge development through the process of design, construction and experimental testing. Students have opportunities to develop their teamwork and communication skills and become more independent and confident learners.
