Development of metacognitive skill in teaching mathematics
(2020 International Young Scholars Workshop, 2020) Yernazar A.
Abstract. The study of metacognitive processes in the context of training and education is currently undoubtedly a priority in metacognitive psychology as a whole. The importance of this group of studies is due in many respects to the large representation of the class of processes in question in educational activities. At the same time, work in this area is not limited to a sample of primary school children, as this has been a significant amount of time. In recent years, the inclusion of the category of metacognition in education affects the educational activities of senior students, graduate students, and generally people involved in continuing education. The study described in this article aims at investigating the relation between the development of metacognition skills and success in learning algebraic identity formulas among middle school students. It uses a quantitative approach. Participants are about 50 students of 7th grade from Oral Bilim Innovation Liceum in Kazakhstan and are divided into two groups, namely experimental and control group. The data is collected by taking a pre-test and post-test from both classes. The diagnostic test is constructed by the researcher and confirmed by university professors. During the research students in the experimental group are familiarized with the concept of metacognition and its strategies such as thinking aloud, self-questioning, reflection and active learning strategies by applying them to solve problems with identity formulas. Finally, the data will be analyzed with ttest and much deeper conclusion will be drawn about the development of metacognitive strategies among students in teaching mathematics.

    Banking System
(Suleyman Demirel University, 2007) Kurdaeva V; Sihimbaev D
This paper explores the structure, functions, and key principles of the modern banking system, with particular attention to Kazakhstan’s financial sector. The banking system plays a vital role in the economy by channeling funds from savers to borrowers, ensuring the efficient flow of capital, and supporting economic growth. Based on Frederic S. Mishkin’s model, the study highlights that loans constitute the major portion of external funding worldwide, with banks serving as the primary financial intermediaries. The paper discusses the composition of commercial bank balance sheets, detailing their assets and liabilities, and explaining how banks generate profit through asset transformation and interest rate differentials. Furthermore, it outlines the four core principles of bank management — liquidity management, asset management, liability management, and capital adequacy management — emphasizing how these ensure stability and profitability. The Kazakhstani banking system, while still developing, reflects global patterns but faces challenges of liquidity, credit risk, and diversification. The paper concludes that strengthening regulation, improving transparency, and fostering innovation are key to enhancing the efficiency and resilience of Kazakhstan’s banking sector.

AN ANALYSIS OF PIAAC SURVEY ON KAZAKHSTAN - GENDER, LEADERSHIP, EDUCATION AND SKILLS
(2021 International Young Scholars' Conference, 2021) Yelibay M.; Halasz G.
Abstract This paper aims to analyse factors predicting who will occupy leadership positions in Kazakhstan, by exploring variables such as gender, skills, level of education, and family background. The skills that are referred to in this study are competencies assessed in the PIAAC survey of Kazakhstan from 2017. The author will estimate a model whether holding leadership occupations depend on gender, family background and skills, such as numeracy, literacy and the use of ICT at workplaces. In summary, a research perspective that focuses on skills in terms of what people do in work contexts can expand conclusions drawn about leadership. Research results indicate that strategic thinking which result in literacy, numeracy and ICT skills are important for leadership. The study supports existing Western research on gender, leadership, education and skills with an analysis of big data. This empirical research adds findings to the existing data from the Central Asian context, particularly to the sector of gender studies, leadership and education.

STUDENTS’ CHALLENGES IN ACADEMIC WRITING: INTERNATIONAL PERSPECTIVE
(2022 International Young Scholars' Conference, 2022) T. Ayazbay
Abstract The aim of the article is to identify international tertiary students’ challenges in academic writing. The article suggests a systematic review of the scientific literature related to higher education students’ challenges in academic writing. Possible reasons for that might be the mismatch between required English language proficiency upon graduation and application to the higher education; L1 interference and incompetent linguistic ability. This article serves as background for further empirical study. Additionally, the paper provides suggestions and recommendations to overcome mentioned difficulties in academic writing. The results are useful for tertiary instructors who teach English writing related courses.

Cluster Policy of Development in Kazakhstan
(Suleyman Demirel University, 2007) Sarsembayeva Aliya
This paper analyzes the development of cluster policy in Kazakhstan as a key instrument for diversifying the national economy beyond its dependence on oil and gas extraction. Based on Michael Porter’s cluster theory, the study explores how Kazakhstan adopted a cluster-based approach to stimulate competitiveness, innovation, and productivity across non-extractive sectors. The research highlights the formation of seven pilot clusters—tourism, transport and logistics, oil-and-gas machine building, construction materials, food processing, textiles, and metallurgy—and examines three of them in detail: the food industry, tourism, and building materials clusters. Each represents a strategic area aimed at boosting regional development and improving cooperation between business, government, and academia. The paper concludes that while the government has initiated substantial progress in cluster formation, long-term success depends on greater initiative and participation from the private sector.

PRECONDITIONS FOR COMPILING PRACTICE-ORIENTED ASSIGNMENTS IN MATHEMATICS
(2021 International Young Scholars' Conference, 2021) Nakypbek Zh.
Abstract It is no secret that today most educational institutions are gradually reorienting to the educational standards of the third generation. In this regard, there is a problem of training qualified specialists for the society, focusing on mathematics as a fundamental and popular science. The professional orientation of training allows us to consider mathematics, firstly, as a means by which you can design the process of profile-oriented training, and secondly, as a form of specific interdisciplinary relationship of general and professional knowledge. Based on this, the development of students’ intellectual skills in designing and modeling mathematical models is considered particularly relevant at the present time. Therefore, a systematic approach to teaching mathematics on the basis of practice-oriented teaching, which has already proved itself in the framework of experimental application and in elective classes in mathematics, is becoming particularly relevant today.

PEACEKEEPING OPERATIONS: AN OVERVIEW OF KAZAKHSTAN’S PARTICIPATION
(2022 International Young Scholars' Conference, 2022) I. Supyaldiyarov
Abstract The United Nations was created to "save succeeding generations from the scourge of war" and one of its main goals is the maintenance of international peace and security. Peacekeeping, although not explicitly provided for in the Charter, has become one of the main tools used by the United Nations to achieve this goal. Over the past three decades, United Nations peacekeeping has become a complex global undertaking. During this time, the conduct of United Nations peacekeeping operations was based on the experience of many thousands of men and women who participated in more than 60 operations launched since 1948. Over the past three decades, the scale of international peacekeeping activities has increased significantly. In particular, it can be argued that the number of so-called "providers" of peacekeeping activities has increased. Today, not only the United Nations (UN) is involved in the processes of peacekeeping, but also a large number of regional organizations and some temporary coalitions of States are involved in this activity. Peacekeeping has changed significantly during this time and continues to change. At the moment, peacekeeping is one of the most important tools of international governance in the field of security at all levels and, above all, at the regional level.
