Traditional approaches often struggle to engage learners and simulate real-world scenarios adequately. This paper explores the emerging trend of integrating game-based learning methodologies into cybersecurity education to address these challenges. Through a comprehensive review of literature and case studies, we examine the theoretical foundations, design principles, and practical applications of game-based learning in cybersecurity education. The analysis highlights the effectiveness of game-based learning in fostering active learning, enhancing problem-solving skills, and promoting experiential learning in cybersecurity contexts. Furthermore, we discuss the potential of game-based learning to address diverse learning styles and bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical skills. Drawing on insights from existing research and best practices, this paper offers recommendations for educators, policymakers, and practitioners seeking to leverage game-based learning for more engaging and impactful cybersecurity education initiatives.
