The purpose of this research is to gain a deeper understanding of the drivers that influence women's entrepreneurial aspirations and activities in a rapidly changing socio-economic landscape. A comprehensive literature review is conducted to establish the theoretical underpinnings of the study. Analysis from 20 in-depth interviews with female Kazakhstani entrepreneurs advances institutional theory by developing a framework of female entrepreneurial motivations. The conceptual framework and methodology for data collection and analysis are presented, followed by an analysis of findings.
